Jan 12, 2010 The Pardus team has published the first release candidate of its Linux distribution with the slightly confusing version number 2009.1. Pardus 2009.1 is a major update of the Pardus 2009 version released back in July. New is the change to Hybrid ISOs, used by practically all current distros, for the installation from CD, DVD and USB drives. Pardus 2009.1 builds on the kernel 2.6.31.9 with a KDE 4.3.4 default desktop. Further vital program versions include Firefox 3.5.7, OpenOffice 3.1.1, Gimp 2.6.7 and X Server 1.6.5. As is usual with Pardus, the two versions Kurulan (installation image) and Calisan (Live CD) are available. Kurulan comes with a special ISO image with numerous localizations.
